We’re so glad you’re here. And we’re excited to get you on the road to the better blood sugar control, enjoying simple and delicious, nutrient-dense meals that will make you feel great.
You probably already know the diabetes diet has gained significant momentum in the past few years. And for good reason…
According to the CDC, as many as 1 in 3 U.S. adults could have diabetes by 2050 if current trends continue.
A Diabetic Meal Plan Can Save Your Life
The good news is this: Research shows that reducing carbohydrates in your diet can help to reverse diabetes and reduce your risk for complications.[i]
In fact, prior to insulin’s discovery in 1921, the standard treatment for diabetics was a very low carb diet![ii]
What’s more, unlike calorie-counting and point-counting diets, low-carb diets work long term… as long as patients stick with the diet.
- A study published in Nutrition & Metabolism evaluated the effects of a 6-month low carb diet on type 2 diabetics. Researchers found the subjects’ diabetes remained well controlled more than 3 years later if they stayed with the low carb diet. [iii]
- Similarly, in the journal Diabetology & Metabolic Syndrome, researchers found that people with type 1 diabetes who followed a carb-restricted diet saw a significant improvement in blood sugar levels over a 4-year period. [iv]
In addition, many people are able to reduce their medication… or eliminate it altogether.
- A study published in Nutrition & Metabolism reported that 17 of 21 subjects with type 2 diabetes were able to stop or reduce diabetes medication when carbs were limited to 20 grams a day.[v]
- Another study restricted carbs to 90 grams per day for type 1 diabetics. Not only did their blood sugar control improve, there were fewer incidences of low blood sugar, as insulin dosages were significantly reduced.[vi]
