You probably know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Unfortunately for most people, the morning is also the busiest time of the day. And often that means nutrition gets ignored.

But starting your day with a bowl of cereal, a donut or a sugar-laden muffin will put you on the fast track to weight gain and poor health.

Typical breakfast foods – even the so-called “healthy” ones –  are little more than processed carbohydrates, unhealthy, inflammatory fats (including trans fat and omega 6 fats) and gluten. So while these grab-and-go breakfasts may satisfy your immediate need for putting something in your stomach, they will send your blood sugar and insulin levels soaring.

The result? In the short term you're lethargic and hungry again within a short period of time after eating. But in the long run, eating like this sets the stage for poor health, obesity and chronic disease.

But there is a solution. And enjoying a healthy breakfast doesn't have to mean spending a lot of time in the kitchen or adding more stress to your day.
