Long gone are the days when peanut butter was the spread of choice!

Many nut and seed butters are very high in omega-6 fatty acids. While these fats are necessary to the body and essential (meaning we must get them from our diet), the American diet is extremely high in these fats… and extremely low in their counter-balancing fats, omega-3’s.
The result? Inflammation.
So while enjoying almond butter and sunflower seed butter can be healthy in moderation, it is important to vary your intake of nut and seed butters to ensure your diet is not unnecessarily high in omega-6 fats.
A good way to do this? Include macadamia nut butter and coconut butter in your nut butter repertoire!
Because macadamia nuts are primarily monounsaturated fats (MUFAs) and coconut is primarily healthy medium chain triglycerides (MCTs), you can satisfy your cravings for smooth and creamy nut butters, while ensuring your fats are in the right ratios.
