While salmon – in it’s purest form – is a true superfood, eating the wrong type of salmon can do more harm to your body than good.

That’s because farm raised fish – the variety that lands on our plates 80% of the time in the US – is one of the most toxic foods you can consume. 

In fact, farmed salmon is fed more antibiotics than any other livestock. And because of their environment – including the GMO corn-and-soy fishmeal they are fed and the contaminated waters where they live – you’ll also get high levels of veterinary chemicals, as well as toxins like mercury and cancer-causing PCBs.

Salmon should be living in cold, clear and crowd-free waters and eating other fish and krill.  Anything else is a recipe for disaster; is this what you want on your dinner plate?

Next time you’re buying fish at the grocery store or fish market, look for salmon that is marked “wild”… and don’t buy anything else.  This can be a difficult task considering that 80 percent(!) of fish consumed in the United States is farm raised.

By making sure your next salmon dish is wild, you are not only saying no to an industry that is terrible for both your health and the environment, you are saying “YES!” to healthy fats, high quality protein and vitamins and minerals that keep you healthy.
