Healthy Chicken Recipes Start with Healthy Chicken!

When looking for easy meal options, one of the first foods that comes to mind for many people is chicken. And why not? It’s readily available, and it’s easy to find healthy chicken recipes that will satisfy just about everyone.

Of course, when it comes to your health, all chicken is NOT create equal.

In fact, factory-farmed chicken – birds raised in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs) – are loaded with antibiotics, hormones and chemicals – including arsenic which is added to feed to speed growth and make the meat “pinker”. Conventionally-raised chicken also poses a higher risk of bacterial contamination thanks to cramped quarters.

What’s more, pastured chicken (and their eggs) have very different nutritional profile than that of conventional, offering higher levels of antioxidant vitamin E and omega 3 fats, with lower levels of inflammatory omega 6 fats.

So while buying pastured or organic chicken is a bit more costly, the benefits of eating healthy chicken – raised the way nature intended – definitely outweigh the cost.

Another benefit? Pastured chicken tastes more like… well, chicken! If you haven’t already made the important switch, you’ll immediately notice the difference in flavor once you do.
