We’ve long lauded the benefits of omega-3 rich fish to protect the heart and reduce inflammation. And new research shows it might help to maintain your memory, too.
A study published in the journal Archives of Neurology followed 815 healthy people for nearly four years. Of the participants studied, 131 developed Alzheimer’s disease. The study found that the participants who consumed fish once or more per week had 60% less risk of Alzheimer’s disease compared with those who never ate fish.
As the researchers looked further, they found that total omega-3 fatty acid concentration and concentration of one specific omega-3 fat in particular, DHA, were to credit for the protection from Alzheimer’s.
To get the benefits, include wild salmon in your diet a few times each week. You can also boost your DHA by taking a good fish oil supplement like Carlson’s, which has been tested for purity and tastes great.

Pack 60% More Nutrients… In Every Bite!
This group of powerful nutrients is considered Mother Nature’s pest protection. Produced inside of plants (and concentrated in the leaves and fruits) these amazing nutrients fend off pests on the farm… and fight disease in your body.
But when crops are “dusted” with pesticides, the plants take a vacation from producing these pest-protecting (and health-promoting!) compounds. The result: Foods with less cell-protecting, disease-fighting substances (not to mention the chemical residue).
Learn how you can pack 60% more nutrients into every bite by choosing foods grown in accord with nature (see Organics: Beyond Green) and the best ways to prepare your foods to increase antioxidants up to 654% (see Smart Cooks Age Better).
