Osteopontin

Osteopontin is a protein and inflammatory cytokine that is required for white blood cell (macrophage) infiltration of a tissue during an immune response.

Recent research found that obese mice that lack osteoponin did not develop diabetes, suggesting this protein's role in insulin resistance.
