Herbes de Provence (Provençal herbs)

Herbes de Provence (Provençal herbs) are a mixture of dried herbs that have been used for centuries.

While the traditional mix consisted of anything Provençal chefs could find in their kitchen garden, the mixture typically contains antioxidant-rich rosemary, marjoram, basil, bay leaf, thyme, and sometimes lavender flowers and other herbs. Discerning chefs maintain that lavender is an essential ingredient of true herbes de Provence, however thyme usually dominates the taste.

Add herbes de Provence to grilled foods such as fish and meat, as well as vegetable stews.
