Curcumin

Curcumin is a yellow phytonutrient found in turmeric.

Research shows this golden-hued compound has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities and may provide protection against several cancers. As an antioxidant, curcumin scavenges free radicals and helps to prevent the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein (LDL)-a key factor in the development of heart disease.

Curcumin is currently being tested in Phase I clinical trials for cancer chemoprevention by the National Cancer Institute.
